Someone write a firefox extension that:

  • Detects if you're running on battery power (may be tricky)
  • Detects if a browser tab is using a lot of CPU resources
  • Saves the current view as a static HTML copy
  • Just views that

DUDE, that would save so many hassles with the modern web.

Right now, my workflow looks like this:

  • Open article
  • Start reading article
  • Notice high CPU usage
  • Mutter under my breath
  • Ctrl+L, Ctrl+C, CTRL+W
  • Open #Dillo
  • Ctrl+L, Ctrl+V, Enter
  • Read in peace

I know, I know, NoScript. I do use it on my phone, funny enough, but I'm not running it on the desktop/laptop.
Maybe I'll try having two browsers: LibreWolf all locked down to heck for casual browsing, and Firefox (AI crap disabled) for work stuff. I dunno. :P

I use the build in process manager of Firefox

about:processes

It's manual but works

#Firefox #process #programming #technology #manager #BSD #Linux
