Neurodivergent kids aren’t “behind.”
The system was built for one kind of brain and calls the rest of us failures.
Imagine grading a fish, elephant, and bird on the same task and calling it “fair.” 🙃🔥

💬 Comment one thing you were AMAZING at as a kid that school didn’t value ⤵️

@naturesauracrystals ...take this a bit further and imagine then calling the ones who cant do it quitters in front of everyone and telling them they "could do it if they just tried hard enough"...thats the worst parts, the undue humiliations and burning yourself out trying to achieve the personally impossible.

*so, like no, i cant memorize numbers and formulas, but i am excellent at designing and building stuff both mechanical and structural...and yup, i am proudly #autistic.*

Doubting, questioning, arguing...

You have to find a place where your strengths are valued and welcome. Took me 40 years.

Everyone, all my life: "Why are you questioning things all the time? You are always criticizing everything, it's exhausting!"

My current employer (in my yearly evaluation): "The way you scrutinize projects and plans, and quickly identify flaws and oversights is a great addition to our company!"

Just one? lol

In grade 5 my teacher taught his own computer class separate from the school's computer class. It was a grade 10 level course that only about half the class actually passed. I however took to it (all programming) like a fish to water. But of course I was never taught anything new in any class after that. But I think that if I had, I could have been doing university level stuff by the time I graduated.
