People who leave #church during the last song worry me a bit.

Like... are you in THAT much of a rush to get somewhere? There's literally a constant stream of people leaving.

I get that this is a #megachurch, but good grief.

@CharismaticBatman Good to see you posting! I sometimes head to the back of the sanctuary early to catch people who I'd otherwise miss. Our congregation puts a lot of work into providing lunch after service (most weeks) because it provides a reason for people to stick around and get to know others.

@badbede

Doing lunch after church is a time-honored tradition! (whether in church or elsewhere)

I'm a little bummed that my church is a bit too big for that to happen much.

@CharismaticBatman @badbede Our service lasts just shy of two hours, and we always have a leisurely potluck afterwards. It’s so important to us that we refused to build a church without also simultaneously building a fellowship hall big enough for lunch. It caused us to scale back on extras for the nave, but lunch is vital, because we have people driving an hour in every direction to get here, and this is our opportunity to build community.

It’s a matter of setting everyone’s expectations. This is just as much a part of the communal life as the Sunday morning prayer is.

@ossobuffo @CharismaticBatman @badbede And our new church plant does lunch every Sunday. Still a house church for now, so the kitchen is a given, but we aim to continue.

@ossobuffo @badbede @royal

That's awesome. I love it when churches place a huge value on fellowship.
