While I’m no fan of Maduro, I’m starting to get an inkling that all of this animus Trump has against the Venezuelan people *from the very start of his administration* has everything to do with oil and his “donors”.

This smacks of George Bush Sr. snatching up Noriega from Panama because he refused to give back the Panama Canal.

Operation Just Cause used the same excuses that Trump is using today: “Drugs”

So what we are effectively seeing here is the culmination of an ever increasing pressure campaign to get that oil.

1. Designate Venezuelan gangs as narcos (whether they are or not)
2. Revoke asylum applicants from Venezuela
3. Blow up Venezuelan boats (ahem drugs)
4. Prepare for land invasion
5. Trump calls Maduro (“You’re sure you won’t change your mind?”)
