The Correct Incantation

@davidrevoy

I take it, that the name of the parrot is "stochastic", right?

@datenwolf Yes, totally a reference to the famous "Stochastic Parrot" paper. The first part also was a direct reference to that :

@davidrevoy I think the Avian Intelligence just scraped the online menu of Taco Bell 😬
@davidrevoy @courtcan Wow. I *really* enjoy your art style.
@christopherbrown @courtcan Thank you! I also publish the HD version on the website if you want to have a look on the brush work without much compression https://www.peppercarrot.com/en/miniFantasyTheater/028__hd.html , I was happy about I rendered the shade of dark gray for her dress on this one. 😊

@davidrevoy
Best stochastic parrot ever!! Please mak this a series. :-)
@TrimTab Thanks! I'll see, next week, I think I want to draw again the little necromancer of the Halloween special episode. But this gothic sorcerer and her AI parrot will probably be my go to for all my future AI/LLM related jokes 🙂

@davidrevoy @TrimTab Don't forget the Amphora of Great Intelligence!

Hopefully we will get to see the Amphora and the parrot in the same episode one day soon. 😅

@davidrevoy
Awesome :-) It's just a great idea for the best worst sidekick ever... We all deal with AI stupidity every day, comedic potential is ripe! :-) She needs to train the Stokey (i named your parrot sorry) how to count blueberries or something...
@davidrevoy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 IA bird 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@davidrevoy I bet the 🦜 was powered by an LLM and its nickname is *stochastic* (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stochastic_parrot cc @emilymbender
Stochastic parrot - Wikipedia

@0rkk0 @emilymbender hehe, yes, a direct reference to this paper. The first part here https://framapiaf.org/@davidrevoy/115577466253882640 does a more direct reference. It will probably be my recurring character for mocking AI 😋 .

@davidrevoy this is offensive to us birds smh
@chirpbirb 💜 I'm very sorry about it. Birds are my friends (Fr, I'm really the guy with many spot on garden with seeds and little names for all the recurrent little winged visitors I have)
@davidrevoy Still useful when in combat against an entomoncer. Biting and stinging swarms are nasty.
@log Ha, thank you! I really wondered for a long time why the IgnisMe spell was even a thing and I just thought: go with it, you'll find something. Now I have a solution. 👍
@davidrevoy Maybe also when stepping out of the bath or shower? For a fractional second. Saves on both towels and razor blades.

@davidrevoy As real as real life indeed.
@davidrevoy
En même temps, il faut être précis, une boule de feux, si elle reste sur place, elle vas brûler celui qui l'a généré 🔥
❗ Attention, une boule de feux qui avance peut aller dans la mauvaise direction ...🔥
@davidrevoy The sparkle emoji in the AI's dialogue bubbles is a nice touch. Really helps sell the obnoxiously cheerful tone.
@davidrevoy I love this character! She looks introvert and short-tempered, total opposite of Pepper. Does she have a name? I hope she gets her crow one day. She deserves her own series.

@jntesteves Thanks! I'm also starting to like her a lot. (and the Necromancer of the Halloween special too). At first for the fun, I named them: Cepper and Parrot 🤣 .

But her core inspiration is really a cartoony version of how I would draw Yennefer from The Witcher series.

So, I might call her something similar on the future, to keep the pattern while not flirting too much with the copyright. Yefer, or just Yen (the nickname of Yenefer).

@davidrevoy
Lucky for her, the spell follows Bruce Banner rules for clothing damage.
@jargoggles Haha, yes, I'll not do twice the same mistake than the one I did for Saffron during the magic contest 😆 🔥 Edit: wrong link, it was on the next episode!! https://www.peppercarrot.com/en/webcomic/ep22_The-Voting-System.html

@davidrevoy
At least she had the presence of mind to wear fireproof underwear - a must-have for pyromancers everywhere.
@davidrevoy Latin and classical Greek are mixed rather willy-nilly in those incantations.
@kolya haha, Guilty as charged for using "Ethymologicus Magicus NotReallyEfficiencus" 😆

@davidrevoy

Better than most AIs.

Cable with cable lugs.

Q: Which speakers does this cable work with?

AI: This cable works with all speakers that have banana sockets.

Q: That's wrong!

AI: Oh, sorry, I was wrong, [blah blah blah] The cable works with all speakers that have banana sockets.

@davidrevoy burning wizard lore

@davidrevoy That'll teach her; not memorizing even the most basic of spells. Everyone knows pyrobolus.

Perrort must've misunderstood 'summoning' as 'becoming'.

@davidrevoy this is not just burning, its learning and controlling fire sis, and that's magical.
@davidrevoy Fun fact: "ignisme" sounds like it should be a Catalan word meaning something about fire-ideology :D
@davidrevoy Well, now a I need to print that one, and re-organise my door (I can fit a row of three, but not a row of four anti AI comics)
@davidrevoy i absolutely fucking love your drawings and i am so happy whenever they cross my feed, it’s such a pure joy to look at them, i always feel like i can see not only just the skill that went into them, but all the fun and the love as well

Man, imagine being a robot bird, couldn't be me.

#Wait...

@davidrevoy

Juste un immense *merci* !

C'est brillant, précis, méticuleux, simple et explicite mais à la fois très fin.

J'étais, je suis et resterai fan.

Bravo l'artiste !

@davidrevoy
I imagine a version where the parrot gives the exact same answer again.
@Takiro haha, yes, it could work also 🤣

@davidrevoy

"Tu as absolument raison ! L'incantation correcte pour une boule de feu est "Pyrobolus" "

@FugazziPL Merci. Tu trouveras sur le site une traduction française faite hier bénévolement par @Nartance : https://www.peppercarrot.com/fr/miniFantasyTheater/028.html (et tous les strips précédents le sont aussi)

@davidrevoy

Well if you knew anything about incantations the -me suffix would have been an indicator that the spell is directed at the invoker! Use the AI responsibly!

But...university students are...university students. They obviously aren't experts yet.

@davidrevoy You're right to question that incantation, here's how it went wrong...
@davidrevoy i finally clocked how she's doing this no-eyecontact "hey alexa" kind of thing in the first two panels and then whirls to address the AI-bird directly in panel 3!

@davidrevoy

Using Avian Intelligence is a learned skill.

F

@davidrevoy

So funny. And true. I mean everyone knows the correct incantation for Fireball is "Pyrobolus".
