I'm so good at #GalaxyPrincessZorana

I think I'm going to make a spreadsheet. Or maybe a database. I'm definitely going to need some planning and analysis to know what skills to get when.

@alilly Spreadsheet or database? Maybe use #TreeTime ? (https://tree-time.info)
TreeTime

TreeTime# Linked Trees for Notes, Tasks, and Structured Data# TreeTime is a tool for keeping, organizing and analyzing information using separate cross-linked hierarchies. Unlike flat lists, spread sheets, or single-view apps, the same data item can appear in multiple trees at the same time — giving you flexible, multi-perspective sorting, categorising, and calculation. Python Package Download / Windows Download / Linux Documentation Source Code Report Issues What is TreeTime?# TreeTime is a light-weight data manager that arranges your data in trees — units and sub-units. Each data object can belong to several trees at the same time, allowing nested mathematical operations and exports to different graphic formats. → Read an explanation: What is a Tree?

@jkanev I don't think a hierarchical or linear data model would be ideal for the problem. What I need to know is a bunch of information along the lines of "Empathy 30 by turn 3," "Spirituality 40 before talking to X," "Be in sector A on turn 24," "Reflexes 50 before going to sector B." And then from that I need to work out a rough order of skill picks, places to go, and people to talk to. I think a spreadsheet or database is the right model here.
@jkanev Oh and I'm going to need a lot of ancillary information such as the Enemies List too, so I think a database makes sense…
@alilly Thanks for having a look. I wasn't quite serious : ) (That said, although it's hierarchical, you can have any number of trees (acting like DB tables), with 1-to-1 relationships between them, or if you use parent-child links or child-child-links, 1-to-many or many-to-many relationships.)
((Also, sorry for the shameless self-promoting.))
@jkanev Yeah, the multi-tree thing is definitely useful, but for this case I think tabular works better. It's neat software and I think there are definitely many cases where it would be handy.
@alilly Yes, definitely. Also, I'll have a look at the game. Sounds like something you'd recommend?
@jkanev I definitely recommend it. It's a difficult political RPG visual novel.
@alilly Is there a link? It it online?
@jkanev It's on Itch and Steam. US$25 normally, on a 15% release sale right now.
