Ate lunch, all by myself.
Unfortunately, I was the only person masked up ๐Ÿ˜ท
Being committed to #CovidSafety is a mostly very lonely experience, when out in the unmasked wilds.
That said - I'm still going to keep trying to lead by living example & keep #MaskingUp. As I slowly get into more community groups that I've not worked enough with before, I'll be also trying to influence by my living example of committed community public health safety. I'll infiltrate to influence better personal choices โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ท
@PhoenixSerenity It *is* lonely. Thank you for doing what you do.
I was very happy when 3 kids who attended the summit with their parents were excited about my mask & told me they would like to wear something like I had on my face - to school ๐Ÿ˜ทโค๏ธ
Too bad none of them nor their parents had any masks on.
I told those kids - It's really cool to wear sparkly masks & it's even cooler to wear them because of caring about others around you. I'm gonna drop those verbal notes into ears of folks, young or old - when opportunities present themselves ๐Ÿ˜ทโœŒ๏ธโค๏ธ
Most #kids would wear almost anything, if they thought it was fun/cool. It's the parents who are failing to help their kids to lead by shining examples in schools. I betcha most kids would be keen to start a cool #masks movement, if their parents were more supportive of their initiatives or led by living example themselves. I know this from working with school kids for 15 years, prior to #covid & my interactions with kids, since covid came to Canada.

@staringatclouds People committed to wearing masks & unapologetic about it are the ones folks remember, when they get super sick from preventable airborne contagious illnesses. Don't be afraid to be the solo masked person. Remember, every single progressive changes in society - started with some folks doing the right thing, for all of humanity, when the social majorities weren't on board. Every person who has sparked societal changes for the better - all felt alone & outnumbered at one or more than one point in their lives. It's OK to be alone or outnumbered, when you're trying to change things for betterment of all. It's not OK to sway from what you know is the right thing to do, for not just yourself & people you know, but for your community, at large - even if, and despite initial community resistance.

@PhoenixSerenity I'm already outnumbered, which is why I don't go out much these days

But when I do, I wear a mask ๐Ÿ˜˜

@staringatclouds โค๏ธ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ˜ท Thanks for your ongoing #MasksSolidarity ๐Ÿ‘Š

@PhoenixSerenity in a way, being an alopecian for most of my adult life prepped me for this. I was already used to tuning ppl out who'd stare at me because I was bald in the before times. I sure as fuck don't notice or care if I'm being stared at for wearing a mask.

I also never get shit for wearing a mask likely because they all assume I'm a chemo patient. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

@Vanalope Most people assume I wear a mask because I'm visibly physically disabled. I tell them - I wear one because of that & because I care about the health of other folks in my community - even if they don't care about me or my health. I am blunt as fuck.
@PhoenixSerenity Yeah โ€” I very rarely see anyone else masked. At least no one around where I live gives me any grief about my own mask.
@PhoenixSerenity Restaurants remain problematic because you simply can't remain masked while eating.
@zakalwe It's not that hard.
