@drewtowler IME, that stems from being autistic, but yes, it matters. It was a prominent feature of my childhood, and my life. 😐

@PatternChaser Yep. And the echoes of it still fly around my brain at random intervals in the night, 40-something years later.

@drewtowler Yes, I remember one stereotypical example. They'd picked sides for football, and I was not picked. I was standing on the edge of the playground, watching. A well-meaning teacher came up to me and asked "why don't you go and join in?", as if they would let me...

@drewtowler And yes, I remember it again, regularly, even now, 60+ years later. Trauma is like that... 😒
