Nearly ½ of flight climate impact comes from contrails, the whispy clouds that can form behind jets. 3% of flights produce 80% of contrails. By forecasting the conditions that allow them to form, and rerouting, they can be stopped for a few $ a ticket.

@ExtinctionR these are the kind of "solutions" that are dangled in front of the public to justify that no change at all is needed.
The article preempts this by saying it's not a solution by itself, but an addition.
The aviation industry will spin it in exactly the opposite way. Using it to justify a complete lack of any change in flying.

Just look at how #carboncapture was used: as an excuse to continue business as usual, while having virtually zero impact on CO2 levels
