@philsplace I still have those CDs too. Useful for re-ripping everything every so often...
@afeinman I think the oldest MP3s I've still got around came from AudioGalaxy, years before Napster was a thing. And the reason why they're still around in their awful original quality (like 128kbit Xing codec) is that I was never able to legally acquire them in a better quality (e.g. no longer sold on CD, never ended up in any of the usual MP3 shops.. or simply unidentifiable.)
Fun fact: I got my best music recommendations via mislabelled files in Napster.. discovered whole new genres I liked.
