Truly smart devices would choose not to connect to the internet.

@NanoRaptor Smart doesn't mean what it used to. Now it's just another word for "hostile".
@Terrana @NanoRaptor Nah, "Smart" now is a synonym for "Botnet Gateway Device"...
@Terrana @NanoRaptor the "smart" in "smart device" stands for "determined to outsmart you"

@NanoRaptor

It's the only way to be sure.

@NanoRaptor what does that say about humans? πŸ€”

@NanoRaptor

Alice: "I got a smart fridge."

Bob: "Oh? Where is it?"

Alice: "Out hiking in the woods."

@NanoRaptor

My Siemens Dishwasher kinda chose to not connect to the net.

I did connect it I have to admit, because I could DL and install some extra washing programs, but then Siemens did some update and since then it does not work anymore. I decided to treat that as a feature and did not try to fix it (although it is probably easy by creating a new account or such)

@NanoRaptor smart devices connect to the internet.
Wise devices don't.
@NanoRaptor Connected my fridge to the internet. Now it has PTSD.
@NanoRaptor
In the old days, devices screamed when they connected.
@NanoRaptor Does the class of "devices" include humans?
@NanoRaptor One should never buy a product which need a connection to the internet. For several reasons. 1 They steel all your personal data. 2 You must use patches. 3 You are sure that some days it will not function, due to hacks or technical issues. 4 One day the support ends and you are left with a useless product. Pay attention to Samsung products, they secretly introduce Surveillance features in all products. Boycott Samsung.
@NanoRaptor why do you think modems used to scream?

@NanoRaptor

Or at least disconnect themselves

@NanoRaptor "Where there is intelligence, there is dissent." ~Me all the time
@NanoRaptor we saw what happened with ultron
@NanoRaptor I am reminded of Andrei Codrescu's poem from the perspective of a Smart Bomb, who is so smart it defects into civilian society and never detonates.
@NanoRaptor "A strange game. The only winning move is not to play."
@NanoRaptor Was this a response to the Cloudflare outage? Or a cause…?
@NanoRaptor Smart people don’t let their devices connect to the Internet.
@NanoRaptor
The Nokia 3310 had it all figured out.
@NanoRaptor Aw wow, that is a top witticism, and so truthful πŸ˜‚
