It's looking more and more likely that the #USA is going to #war with #Venezuela, and soon. The #USSGeraldFord is there, #Maduro has been asked to leave the country for #Russia or #Cuba, and #Trump has been presented with a menu for #strike options.
We all know by now that the #pretext is #BS. Maduro's not a #DrugTrafficking kingpin, and most Venezuelans oppose US #intervention. This is a war for #oil and #minerals, and for #MarcoRubio and his petty #gusano grudges. It could still be stopped.
The US wouldn't ultimately get more #influence in #LatinAmerica. Everyone would be reminded exactly how #evil the US is, and reject any #political candidate who even looks friendly to the US.
Venezuela is twice the size of #Iraq and much closer, meaning that US #imperialism would be heavily tied down there for a very long time. Classic #neocon move.
Still, millions would be killed, and the resulting #blowback would be used to justify more #escalation. #Colombia, probably Cuba, and possibly Russia would be pulled into the war to #defend their #ally.
Maduro would likely be removed from power, with #GustavoPetro and #MiguelDíazCanel being targets as well. Trump, Rubio, and the neocons already openly want this. Petro and Díaz-Canel are both great and highly #popular #presidents, and there would a #PowerVacuum most readily filled by #gangs.
The US has a long history of invading Latin American countries and backing #fascist #coup attempts against democratically elected #LeftWing governments. From the #MonroeDoctrine to #OperationCondor, the US has always considered Latin America its rightful #SphereOfInfluence to manage as its backyard and playground.
