More post-apocalyptic media. Mad Max 2 The Road Warrior. This move came out in 1981 and also, eventually played on regular old TV in the mid 80s.

If you were a kid in the early 80s, you probably did not have cable TV. You also did not get to go the movies. But this movie played on regular TV eventually and it would blow your mind.

The world is in tatters, but the remains still fight over oil. This movie continued a genre of post-apocalyptic wastelands dominated by roving gangs that used modified cars and motorcycles to enforce tenuous power.

The effects are still good because, back then, you had to do practical effects and live action stunts.

This movie is what powered our desire to play Car Wars. Who doesn't want a suped up muscle car, driving through the desert, defeating the bad guys and protecting what glimmer of civilization remains.

Just as aside, back the 80s, we had no idea that Mad Max 1 even existed, we thought the Road Warrior was the first movie.
