@micr0 Aside from the "well that's sure convenient for criminals" factor, that same "privacy" also translates to "secrecy" in the people running it allowing all kinds of jiggery-pokery behind the scenes.
Congratulations! You've replicated the existing banking system, complete with illicit bankers manipulating the system, and all it takes is burning down an acre of rainforest to buy something several orders of magnitude more slowly than regular means of payment!
@ZDL i mean, would you rather that secrecy be for the elite and the few? or be accessible to anyone?
for me the answer is pretty obvious which is why things like this that democratize privacy or "secrecy" are important.
everyone deserves the rights to privacy. not just the super wealthy
@micr0 I think you missed my point. Most crypto fans usually do, sadly.
I'm saying it's a scam. You are being scammed. By the very same wannabe-'elites' who wish to take the place of the 'elites'. There's nothing 'ethical' about cryptocurrency. It's all the same grift that has always existed when money comes into being in whatever form it takes.
@ZDL i am not a crypto fan, i only use monero out of convenience and privacy, i dont "invest" in crypto, i literally use it to pay for some subscriptions and services and receive donations.
nothing is black and white and its annoying that the internet only cares about generalizations.
i support decentralized software, and i support alternatives to corporate systems.
if you have a problem with that feel free to unfollow.
@micr0 @[email protected] my entire account is devoted to exposing crypto grifts but i have a certain amount of respect for #monero / #XMR. it's not a ponzi scheme; it's an anti-surveillance payment method. drugs haven't been purchased on in the internet with bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies in many years bc it's all monero now.
(unsurprisingly 99.9% of crypto bros don't care about monero because they are just there for the ponzi)
unfortunately i'm almost 100% certain that we are headed for a future where international organized crime has its own currency that competes with the dollar and that currency will be XMR (though as of the last few weeks crypto bros in the US have been trying hard to make Zcash happen) and i think that is going to be Very Bad for the world.
Privacy is the precondition for many of our freedoms. Itโs the point at which government and corporate reach end and our individual freedoms and self-sovereignty begin. As our lives have moved online, privacyโs become a rare, vanishing commodity. Thatโs why we founded Cypherpunk
@cryptadamist @ZDL @micr0 already #Monero is the "#BlackMarketCurrency" because it solves all the problems the #BlackMarket has when it comes to #payment and #money:
Also the #Winklevoss #CryptoBros are "old money finance assholes"...
@hyc Granted, that may be but by being explicity Anti-#ASIC it's as best #decentralized as can be!
And if anyone says "#ProofOfStake is better!" I'd tell them to GTFO and come back with an apology after they setup #Ethereum and espechally #Solana #Validators and seen the #cursed nature of these that make #PoS like that worse than #PoW!
@hyc It's the reason why I call #Monero "the least worst #Cryptocurrency", as it's nature and features prevent abuse like #NFT|s & associate #malware via "#SmartContracts"...
