Can soneone confirm or deny that @EUCommission / @europarl_en is planning to release a new #VehicleClass for #PersonalLightVehicles?
- Cuz that would be great!
After all I guess @EUCommission & @europarl_en read the relevant academic paper demanding Personal Light Vehicles instead of Super Useless Vehicles.
- Basically the #EU response to #KeiCars, which incentivize small cars in a fixed build envelope and power output would be long overdue.
This would be a good shift to combat the #Enfattening and #Enshittification of #cars!
- OFC as @notjustbikes, @SheDrivesMobility and #AdamSomething will point out, this does not give Governments from #EU to #City and #County an excuse to slack off on #CyclingInfrastructure, #PublicTransport and #WalkableNeighbourhoods, but at least it's a step away from shoving more bullshit into #cars and to counteract the trend to sell way too expensive, #thicc and heavy "#luxury" cars!

Currently the #EU vehicle classes for #PersonalLightVehicles either have severe limits in terms of deadweight and/or power & maximum speed…
- Granted, if they want to incentivize #cheap #EVs they gonna have to either exclude #batteries or incentivize #Methanol #FuelCell or ease up on said restrictions and bring them closer to #KeiCars!
Either way, I wish the @EUCommission & @europarl_en would be ambitious and basically push for the "European EV equivalent of a #TataNano"...
