Narrow boat entering a lock. In the early 20th century, facing steep competition from railways, the Grand Union Canal rebuilt its locks to take two boats. One is already in the lock. You can see the mouth of the old single lock, paved over. Of course, the investment failed.

Eel traps on the River Test. The Test is famous as a chalk stream for fly fishing. We saw these structures from a bridge and couldn't work out what they were, but apparently these are eel traps, now disused as eels are protected.

Yesterday was the local charity fireworks display, in a field in front of Kenilworth Castle. It's years since we went; crammed with 10,000 people in a muddy field for an hour is not fun. I meant to take my camera out & get reflections of fireworks in the local lake; didn't work out, for "life" reasons. My #ZeissIkonta524 has a bit of a fault that makes it difficult to use. Not in the images: lens, shutter, bellows, seals etc all seem fine. But there's a metal slide that operates the latch to open the back, which seems to be made of soft metal and has become extremely stiff. I'm now using a metal ruler to give a bit more grip at the end. Anyone any ideas how to fix it?
