The cryptocoryne was a stupid choice, tho. I didn't realize it's a slow grower (I did so much research things started to blur together a bit) and now it's just... sitting there. I mean, it's a pretty plant and the rest of the plants probably balance it out, but its corner just looks sad.
I saw a really pretty amazon sword in a store the other day... I talked myself out of it because I should stop fussing with the 'scape, but dammit, maybe I'll go for it after all.
One of my furry idiots drowned the aquarium light 😩 It's obviously my fault in retrospect, but cats, whyyyyyyyyyyyy??? The lighting was a good third of the setup cost...
I ordered a replacement and put the soggy one into a bag with rice, but I'm not very hopeful. There was water sloshing all over the LED strip, I doubt it can survive that.
One tiny bit of good news is that I can reuse the light's wifi controller and power adapter for a mini LED light the manufacturer also sells, which I could use for growing house plants aquaponically out of the tank - something I'm really excited about.
...or maybe not. The version without a power adapter is out of stock. Probable date of restocking? 2025/05/26 🙃
Could I buy the slightly more expensive version with a power adapter, ending up with a spare? I could! Do I want to? Ughhhh.
