@Gehtso Russia's military contractors must be milking Putin the way US war contractors milk the Pentagon for a 3 meter drone to cost $400,000! The recon payload with its fancy long range video setup and good camera could probably be copied for a few thousand though it might be bulkier.
If it is, the drone could simply be scaled up far cheaper than miniaturizing the payload.
In the US, visual/IR security cameras of poor quality cost next to nothing. A good one with a zoom lens and the equivalent of a lighweight UHF ham radio set capable of 100 miles mountaintop to mountaintop cannot cost the difference between a typical R/C plane this size and $400,000!
I'll bet folks in Ukraine can guide artillery by drone for a tiny fraction of this price.
Most of the drone parts can be ordered online from hobby suppliers, and for a real drone (not just R/C) computer a Raspberry Pi can probably do the job. If the drone controller can handle actually flying the machine (via FPV googles or a TV screen and "gamer" cockpit) it gets cheaper yet and can use only common parts for the aircraft itself.
Note that effective drones have been built in Gaza, which is under siege and very difficult to get parts into.
Anyway, Russia is using drones for murder and brutality. Nice work Ukraine knocking these down! Also good that contractors are screwing Putin on drones, as that means he cannot afford as many of them. Make war expensive enough and even the worst dictators will have to buy less of it.
