Tomorrow (Tues, 11 Nov 2025) from 20:00 NZDT we're having a #Libre / #FOSS catch up at https://meeting.iridescent.nz We'll talk about lots of stuff, like maybe Iocaine Powder (to block 'AI' bots driving up your hosting bills) & Umami (web analytics). Whoever comes along determines what we talk about! From the 'open-curious' to veterans - all welcome - there're no bad questions! Our goal is that everyone leaves knowing more than when they arrived! Dip in & out at your leisure. Hope to see you there! 👋

@lightweight not going to make it but you might be interested in Liwan which is a simple, lo fi web analytics platform that's a single Rust binary.

@stephen @lightweight I'm interested in opinions on the analytics offered as part of Ghost, using an integration with TinyBird;

Put a bird on it! (If you know, you know :P)

Official Ghost + Tinybird Integration

Ghost has partnered with Tinybird to provide detailed, first-party web analytics, directly inside Ghost Admin.

@strypey @lightweight only looking at FOSS things I can self host at this point.
@stephen @strypey the whole 'get started for Free!' lead-in for TinyBird doesn't bode well as a first impression, as it implies a proprietary license after 'getting started'... I'm guessing it's not libre/FOSS?

It's one of a number of areas where Ghost has oversold itself. Talking up third-party subscription features that are folded into their hosted service, in ways that create a false impression of what a self-hosted instance can do. Email subscriptions is another example.
