I always think of #KatieRazzall as being Channel 4 at heart because that’s where I first saw her…and she really does all but say there has been a complete rightwing populist takeover of the #BBC Board in her piece tonight about the departures of #TimDavie and #DeborahTurness.

No love here for #RobbieGibb…which reminds us of what #EmilyMaitlis said of him after her departure from Newsnight.

Katie Razzall: A seismic moment that shows rift at top of BBC

There may be more to this than meets the eye, says the BBC's culture and media editor.

BBC News

‘Turness went into a board meeting on Thursday to discuss the crisis around the Telegraph stories and was "ripped apart", as some have described it.

Those who have called the #BBC's journalism into question would call that accountability.

But another source characterised it as the culmination of a "relentless critique of BBC journalism over two years by members of the Board and advisers - all of whom come from same political persuasion".

That political persuasion is clearly rightwing.

‘I'm struck by a line in #TimDavie's statement. He said this about the #BBC: "We should champion it, not weaponise it."

Tonight, some are asking whether the resignations of both the director general and the CEO of News suggests the BBC has been weaponised.’

I doubt these will be the only high profile BBC news resignations this week…how many will want to continue to work for what is rapidly turning into GB News.

@JugglingWithEggs Question being, where would they go?

@beemoh

Good point - what are the options in broadcast news these days if you don’t buy into a tabloid rightwing agenda?

Podcasting has surely reached saturation point and we’re thinking not just about those in front of the camera but behind it too.

Channel 4 has always been a refuge for those looking to flee the BBC, but there’s only so many who can be accommodated.

I predict some early retirement and career changes.

@JugglingWithEggs

Billionaire gave Conservative Party millions of pounds, conservatives gave him control of BBC.

Labour leaves them there, doesn't tax billionaires fairly.

Labour needs an in house coup to remove Starmer and allies, or 50 MPs defect to green. Triggering an election.
