I use Day One for journaling and it doesn’t seem to have a formatting choice for that. The formatting looks like this:

It’s never bothered me, so I’ve never looked for other options, but I don’t think it has them.

This was probably absolutely no help to you, but I do love the Day One app and have used it for years, so I wanted to mention it.

I’ve never heard of Bear. I didn’t try th Apple Journal because I really like Day One, so I can’t speak for that one.

I really don’t journal all that much, even though I should. I keep paying the yearly renewal for Day One, so you’d think I’d use it more, but I’m pretty bad about it.

That absolutely makes sense. I love to write, but I just don’t take the time to do it anymore. I’m usually watching or reading something, which seems to be its own form of therapy for me, but I really do wish I’d put more effort into journaling.
