WTF ADL?

The #AntiDefamationLeague is facing backlash over what critics have called unwarranted hostility toward Mayor-elect #ZohranMamdani, after the org publicized a website & tip line to monitor his admin for actions that could be construed as #antisemitic.

During the final stretch of the mayoral campaign, #Mamdani’s detractors, including #JonathanGreenblatt, chief exec of the #ADL, repeatedly accused him of #antisemitism, a charge he strongly rejects.

On Wednesday, #JStreet, a liberal pro-#Israel Jewish advocacy group, called the #ADL tracker “alarming” & criticized a statement by the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, a coalition of dozens of Jewish leaders, that referred to Mamdani’s election as “a grim milestone.” J Street argued that the groups taking aim at #Mamdani had not applied the same scrutiny to #Trump, “despite his long record of using #antisemitism & #bigotry for political gain.”

…In recent years, the #ADL has taken an increasingly conciliatory approach to the #FarRight & a hard-line stance against critics of #Israel.

Earlier this year, the group defended #ElonMusk after he was accused of making a #Nazi salute at a rally celebrating Trump’s inauguration, calling it “an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm.”

It also initially praised the #Trump admin’s move to #arrest & #deport pro-#Palestinian #StudentActivists, a position it shifted after backlash.

In an interview, Greenblatt said the #ADL’s website & tip line were “not designed to criticize the mayor” but were instead “a data-driven approach that simply looks at the facts.”

…The organization described the so-called Mamdani Monitor [it’s actually called that] as “a public-facing tracker monitoring policies, appointments & actions by the #Mamdani administration that impact Jewish community safety & security.”

Hopefully, he hits hard and fast by appointing a diverse team of Jewish New Yorkers to committees with the express goal of making NYC safer from antisemitism. They can have that on their list.

That's true, but his da'wah is Twelver Shia, an uncommonly rare form of Islam in Gujarat, his ancestral home. His backstory is amazing: an interfaith household, celebrating both Muslim and Hindu holidays.

ADL is just being embarrassing, as they usually are. Bigots.
