Shenanigans at #PorcupineBridge! Keep your eye on the left side of the screen where the little stream is. Right away you see 2 little eyes bopping along in the water coming right at you. Now look to the bottom right to see it continuing, hopping to the right, then, like a laser, darting back and straight into a plant, loud enough to draw the porcupine’s interest! 🫨 I slowed down the end of the video to see it clearer.

Jumping Mouse, perhaps?

@danmccullough Weasel? Not familiar with your local fauna.
@lippyduck It’s moving so fast even slowed down it’s hard to make out! I’m pretty sure it’s a Deer Mouse [Peromyscus maniculatus], once referred to as a jumping mouse. Incredible agility!
@danmccullough Hadn't heard of those. Maybe it's the video but I got the sense the tail was bushier than a mouse's.

@danmccullough Pretty cool sighting👍

I'd guess White-Footed mouse too. That last leap looked really impressive but might have been launched off something higher up out of the frame...

@lfisk Yes, there is a little embankment there where it could have gotten a good high dive spot. I’m curious what it saw that made it perform a zoomie right back into the thick of things. 😆
@danmccullough Maybe just having a bit of fun 🎢 and going for a fly leap rather than climbing down😉
@danmccullough impressive about turn at the end! 🐁💨
