I'll never understand the thing where folks keep their blinds closed all the time, which reminds me of my grandmother's old lady consort, who'd sit ensconced in ugly chairs like sea anemones in dark dusty rooms with their heavy velvet curtains drawn tight to fend off who knows what, like they were in witness protection.
