Apparently the bus broke down and was blocking the bike lane, AND one of the two general traffic lanes for around 2 hours while waiting for a tow truck.

Blocking one of two general traffic lanes AND the bike lane is not an improvement over only blocking one general lane. Even #VicPD (not an organization overly concerned with cyclist safety) seem to understand this as I once saw them stop on the same road and they left the bike lane clear and waved cyclists through.

For the unbridged Bluesky user too car brained to understand plain English.

They were blocking 2 lanes. They could have blocked only one lane. One of the general lanes was going to be blocked no matter what, but rather than only blocking that one lane they blocked both it AND also the bike lane at the same time. The bike lane is a real lane that was really blocked and it is meant for real people who really die when cars hit them.

1+1=2, and two blocked lanes is worse than 1 blocked lane.
