@anti_disease they want you to *feel* safe and comfortable - no mention of actually being safe and comfortable (my preference)
@oftencalledcathy @anti_disease
And of course it's totally not awkward or uncomfortable to ask a healthcare worker to wash their hands, like they're a toddler.
Asking for a mask to be worn is hard enough when you're in the vulnerable position of needing care. 🤷🏻‍♀️
@ConnyChiwa @anti_disease absolutely. I’m at the stage where I will be refusing some healthcare as I can’t trust the staff, and hospital appointments always seem to crash my LC
@oftencalledcathy @anti_disease It's good when you are able to make that choice, although it would be much better you didn't have to in the first place.
Why we're having to fight for safe healthcare settings in the 21st century is beyond me tbh.

@anti_disease So, the health care professionals (the ones with the power in the relationship) will put on a mask that doesn't filter airborne particles (fluid-resistant mask = surgical mask) *if you ask* and they condescend to allow you (the one without the power) to wear a similarly ineffective mask *if you want*.

I don't get how this condescending garbage is intended to come across as anything other than insulting.

They shouldn't be licensed to provide care if they don't know when to wash their hands, just like they shouldn't be licensed to provide care if they don't know how to protect their patients from airborne illnesses.
