Since my early childhood, I was nail biting. My mom always asked me, what problems I had. Because, according to her, you only nail bite when you have problems. I never had an answer to that, because I didn't feel like I had any problems.

For about a year now, I have stopped nail biting. How did I achieve that? I bought a fidget ring.

Also, using nail polish has been a secondary factor to prevent my nail biting

@vger I literally just posted about revelations of symptoms still happening to me here in my mid 50ā€™sā€¦ and now nail biting too!!!

At the age of 15 I started the procedure of renewing my nail polish daily. I didn't like the taste but also couldn't stand the texture of the nail polish changing after one day. It took me a few weeks until I stopped biting my nails. I stopped using nail polish years ago, because it's an awful feeling I just endured, because I took the German saying "Who wants to be beautiful has to suffer." much too literally before I found out that I am autistic.

@KaCi Heh, for me it is the other way around. First, having nail polish on felt "different" and it took me about a day to get used to it. Now I don't like the feeling of not wearing nail polish. I also use it to stim, I like touching the perfectly smooth polished nails.

@vger I also thought of buying one... I also bitten my nails since I had some šŸ˜… For me it was the sabbatical I had the privilege to experience. Less cortisol less nail biting, and now I have grown myself a human made stimming tool šŸ’… Pressing them into my palms or clicking them together helps me to maintain them šŸ˜…
