Here in #CoosBay Oregon, we are getting 10 hours and 10 minutes of light today. When chatting with a friend in Santa Fe New Mexico about the time switch I noticed that they are far enough south to get 28 more minutes of light than us.

Here is a site to see how much you get!

@knapjack

I spent a summer in Valdez, never got the pleasure of an Alaskan winter

Day length today: 10h 46m 59s (Nov 3, 2025)

@SecularJeffrey

But in June the sunset is 40 minutes later in Oregon than in New Mexico!

@GustavinoBevilacqua

My NM friend hates the time shift. Throws him off for a week before (worrying about it) and at least a week after. Never bothered me much, but would prefer staying on standard time all year.

@SecularJeffrey

Actually the best thing would be to have some sunlight before and after the work, but I don't know which company will accept this.

@GustavinoBevilacqua

When I worked nights, the winters were go to work in the dark, get home in the dark...

@SecularJeffrey

During the winter, in the village where I live, the sun set behind a hill at 3:30pm… and on the opposite side there is another hill which is higher on the East side, so it raises almost all year long at 9am.
