Anyone who thinks that "the facts speak for themselves" has never tried to construct a good argument or do serious data analysis.

The facts *never* speak for themselves. We don't reason about facts, we reason about arguments.

The way that facts and context are assembled into arguments is the difference between reasonable explanations and conspiracy theories.
