The DS106 Daily Create

@creating #tdc5039 #ds106 #WildDS106

On March 1st, 2010 the first #ds106 hashtag was born? Maybe? I think we contributed to this after 2010...I wonder what Intrepidteacher is doing these days? And we get to see @jimgroom soon. How nice.

@toddconaway @creating DailyShoot was absolutely ground zero for what would be the community effort that was #ds106. The UMW students' eyes immediately lit up at the idea of being mixed in and amongst all these other folks taking pictures on the web. The classroom was just that much more porous---and by extension rich.

A geologist and a glassblower, dusty from their work, bellied up to the saloon bar near Four Corners. "Higher education is embracing 'porous' learning now," the geologist exclaimed.
The glassblower scoffed, taking off his rose colored (didymium) spectacles. "Porous? Nonsense! That can be isolated pockets, closed-off knowledge. Like obsidian – beautiful, but ultimately a dead end, trapping information. No flow."

He leaned in, eyes twinkling. "Truly open education practices aren't just about having spaces; it's about connections, access, and sharing. It's pumice! Interconnected voids letting ideas and content flow through.
Permeability allows knowledge to propagate and evolve. Merely porous open education is just a collection of facts; if it's permeable, it's a living system." The geologist signaled the barkeeper for another round.
@jimgroom @toddconaway @creating I'm doing some archeology, found the first time it was assigned first for your DS106 class Feb 20, 2010 https://web.archive.org/web/20110403124232/http://digitalstorytelling.umwblogs.org/2010/02/20/assignments-for-tuesday-223/

@creating #tdc5039 #ds106 recycling #ds579 Make a photograph that features a shadow as your subject today.

Had a walk yesterday with my daughter. The skys cleared for a couple of hours.

@johnjohnston @creating
#tdc5039 Recycling Daily Shoot #ds2. Find an interesting shadow today and make a photo of it. And I’m recycling a shadow photo, with pumpkins for the season, and squared for these newfangled federated thingamabobs.

@creating #tdc5039 #dailycreate #ds106 #WildDS106 I found a #dailyshoot listed on the past assignments

"2011/08/07 • #ds630 Make a photograph that illustrates a memory from your childhood."

I still have these Dalmatian dog figurines that always were on an endtable in my family home. I never knew why my folks got them (a gift? the movie? desire for dogs?) Perhaps a precognition to my first adopted dog Dominoe?

@cogdog @creating
One of my favorite kid movies. Like this mug, apparently it is big in Japan.
@creating I made a photograph of a plant #ds656 from the Daily shoot Wayback machine. One thing the #DailyCreate has taught me is to observe and capture everyday things. #tdc5039 #WildDS106
