📚 Reading now : "Marty Feldman, Biography of a Comedy Legend" by Robert Ross

👍 Great book so far. Highly recommended.

Marty led a very interesting life before he came to Hollywood and was an accomplished writer, actor, and raconteur in England. He was taken from us too soon.

So, Graham Chapman, Cleese, Palin, and Jones all got their first serious writing jobs working for Mary Feldman on a show called At Last The 1948 Show on BBC in the mid-late 60s. Rejected skits were rewritten and used for Flying Circus.
Michael Palin remembers: “Marty tended to be doing more and more of the physical comedy which he enjoyed doing. He became very Harpo Marx in those routines. There was a feeling that he didn’treally like doing lines. He could do them, brilliantly... Terry and I writing more visual items for him. There was a sketch called ‘The Clothists’ about a group of people who shock the nudist community by wearing clothes. Marty enjoyed all of that.”
