Some things you do can with postmarketOS on a refurbished phone like a OnePlus 6/6T:
1. Use Telegram and Flare (Signal client) to message your contacts
2. Use jmp.chat and an xmpp client like Dino to call and message regular phone numbers
3. Use Tuba for Fediverse applications like Mastodon
4. Browse the internet with mobile-friendly configured Firefox
5. Use Newsflash to follow RSS feeds and blogs

@senderolinux @dino @Tuba Discovered last night that you can run Keet (p2p chat app) on mobile linux also!
@stovis @senderolinux @dino @Tuba Is it FOSS? It's built on #PearsP2P and #Holepunch and last I checked, their #OpenSource definition did not give me too much confidence...

@opensourceopenmind @senderolinux @dino @Tuba The underlying components are https://github.com/holepunchto The UI and app itself is not. The developing team has signalled that it will be, so that's what we're hoping for.

So atm it comes down to whether you trust the company. I do, personally, having communicated a lot with them directly in the community rooms in keet. But I totally get why others will wait until it is open source.
