A ★★★ review of The Phantom of the Monastery (1934)
While doing some impromptu hiking, two men a woman, get lost. As it is getting very late, they decide to seek shelter in a near by monastery. They thought it was long abandoned, but there are some lights visible. The monks invite them to stay the night. Strange things are going on and strange visions come to them all. This is a very atmospheric haunted house/Brigadoon tale. We get lots of coffins, tales of monks who sought out evil powers to get the woman they desired, and ancient mummified corpses.
