Daring Fireball
@daringfireball this is 💯 bullshit. When using Maps I want to find what I’m searching for, not get ads for inorganic, paid recommendations. I’m the user and I paid for the software, ad revenue business should *not* be part of the iOS UX.
I’m not saying you don’t have a point. I think Apple could and should instead not only keep Apple Maps ad-free, but promote its ad-free nature to would be switchers.

@gruber I have several use-case Map Apps.

GME XRS Connect when I am off-road touring in a group.

NewTracs when I am doing technical 4WDing.

@organicmaps When I am doing other recreational activities. (hiking, kayaking, biking).

NewTracs has a great CarPlay UI, but I can’t use OrganicMaps day-to-day in CarPlay UI.

I still fall back on AppleMaps for daily driving, it is not as Cluttered as GoogleMaps and not as obnoxious as Waze.

@Salvo @gruber what are you missing in Organic Maps CarPlay?

@organicmaps @gruber
It’s not what is missing, it is just a bit cluttered and a bit sluggish.

It is definitely much nicer since the last update, well done on the extensive work.

Live location updates aren’t as responsive as AppleMaps. This may be an iOS issue.

Street numbers when you slow below 30km/h make the interface a bit cluttered. We don’t need to see them in side streets (we barely need them on the street that we are on).

@organicmaps @gruber
Actually, one additional feature would be support for CPTemplateApplicationDashboardScene.

Then I would be able to used #OrganicMapsApp alongside the Music Applet in the CarPlay Dashboard.
