ZAP BLAP Don't use adapters for your Tesla crap!

Looks like the issue was with the charging station not playing nice with the adapter and causing a massive arc-fault.

Doesn't look like the person was seriously injured, nor the car seriously damaged. But that would have been a bad day nonetheless.

edit: upon further investigation, it appears the Fort St location was erroneous. It appears to have been the On the Run station at the Chevron on the “Old Hope Princeton Hwy”.

This is also why there should be *one* standard DC high speed charging car plug. One. Only one. For everyone. (there are currently three)

@chris the layout of the Electrify Canada station doesn’t match this photo at all (no canopy and the charger units are on the side of the parking spots at EC).

There is a small Tesla station a few blocks west of that that might match, as it doesn’t have a canopy and the units are at the back of the spots

Edit: but why would a Tesla need an adaptor at the Tesla station?

On The Run had battery integrated chargers in Hope, but not on Fort St, and they just upgraded those

@chris I just read the original report with lots of details. No mention of Fort St - or any specific location other than ‘Hope’ - so the reporter made that up.

This appears to indeed be one of the On The Run 200kw battery enabled chargers, since replaced in 2025. I only ever got 60kw out of these!

Electrify Canada is not involved here in any way this time

@craz8 Ya you're right. You can tell from recent PlugShare photos that it's the On the Run (Chevron) location on the Old Hope Princeton Hwy.

I've always found the Chevron network to be almost as unreliable as the PetroCan. I wonder if the (unique?) battery-storage-discharge design of the DC chargers contributed at all to the fault?
