The US was never a democracy at all. I think the people who talk about "saving democracy" just need to talk to someone other than a vanilla white person.
Black people COULD NOT VOTE for much of the history of the US, and to this day millions of them STILL cannot vote.

What we need in this country is a democratic revolution.

We need to recognize that our country is a dictatorship of a white supremacist economic elite, and we need to overthrow that regime once and for all.

We need to rebuild our society on the basis of One Person, One Vote. We need to give the power back to the people, and we need to put the means of production back into the hands of the workers. And we need to say "enough" to the despotic domination of the many by a few thousand men.

What kind of democracy lets tens of thousands of people languish in the streets during a housing surplus, and allows for a situation where 60% of its people are too poor to live?
What kind of democracy is it where the decisions of a small elite almost totally determine our policies?
What kind of democracy is it where millions of people are robbed of their ability to vote on the basis of their skin color?

Let me answer this one: no democracy at all!

@burnoutqueen
Representative democracy that's what. As described in this thread we need participative direct democracy, built possibly on cosmolocalism, sortition and people's assemblies. There are frameworks available.
None of them will work whilst the myth of national sovereignty is the trump card (no pun intended). We need planetary citizenship underpinned by #UnityInDiversity #univeraleducation #universalparticipation #universalequality #universaljustice
