Some notes about this Ouigo-sponsored interview of Ouigo's CEO: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hr7P8K-44JY

- 50% of Ouigo passengers wouldn't have taken the train, but they forgot to survey how this splits into induced demand & modal shift. The CEO said maybe 20% induced + 30% modal shift, but no data to back it?
- Hammering the modal shift mission, but casually mentioning future train + airplane bundles. Which I'm not convinced about: modal shift of short-haul flights but induced demand of long-haul flights.

- Next-generation Ouigo will have 8 bicycle spots per train. A big leap forward for France! 🎉 #MonVeloDansLeTrain #CyclingOnRails
- Ouigo's CEO was surprised of the success on Paris-Bruxelles... but not planning any other #CrossBorderRail lines. I bet @jon wasn't surprised: https://jonworth.eu/make-international-rail-cheaper-capacity-on-a-route-is-the-crucial-issue/

- TGV and Ouigo love to pretend to be different companies for passengers (e.g. lack of journey continuation rights in case of missed connection), but behind the scenes operate as a fully integrated cartel with coordinated pricing, maintenance, choice of destinations, etc.
- Ouigo España isn't integrated with SNCF Connect, but is available on many 3rd-party ticketing platforms. I bet @jeanbaptistemarie from @12train can attest how hard it is to sell Ouigo France tickets!

Ah and this top YouTube comment: "When Ouigo Paris-London please, so many direct flights it should work right?" #CrossChannelRail

@jon would like a word (or not) 😆

@cycling_on_rails he didn’t want the Bruxelles line! SNCB forced it! Of course a SNCF guy would be shocked by an international route working.
