@browneyes Pakistan has problems of terror financing, is why our banks are so strict and payment systems are tied to proof of identity like CNIC.

Banks were full of people funding Taliban and such.

Also this kind of measure is aimed at bringing locals partially into the documented financial system, as too much grey economy.

@ChaiPaniEtc Pakistan from Japan. I know so far that depending on how foreign citizen staying here, it's a vary way for opening a bank account, not where they from... Sending from a big company or delegation wala to yeh bhi asan hoga. But it's not my case 🥲

@browneyes I can understand it. BTW, I think payment can also be made using foreign bank account mobile apps, usually QR Code scan to pay is a common feature.
In fact the objective is payment through QR Code. But the govt is like that.

@ChaiPaniEtc I prefer to pay local payment from local Bank Account since I only earn money in locally for now.
Well, enable to scan via local bank app as well, then it's okay.

However it'll be sometimes a bit difficult rather than actual digital payment app I guess.
Wish at least everyone who have local bank account can use digital payment app as well. This is what I want. (and it's not only my voice, I've heard similar complain from other foreign residents.)
