@VeroniqueB99 I love this as well.
But you may want to explain for readers unfamiliar with Ireland the difference between the prime minister and president role. I feel this post can be misleading without that context.

This is awesome news

Awesome news, @VeroniqueB99 Image with alt text.
Now let's do #US
Hi, Vee, long time since I visited. Hoping you are doing as well as can be expected all things considered (ya know).
trying to remain sane. tough some days, as you likely know. Stay safe. Had a decent No Kings Protest across from Texas A&M, productive in that 3 freshmen girls approached me asking if they could ask me something. The head of the group is from Idaho, and they were wondering why all the people were lining University Dr. She said her folks were Republicans, to which I asked: "so, do they like the fact that trump is giving the Qataris an airbase there"? She said, "They are SO mad!"
@BillMcGuire ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃwow!
So glad you had a good protest! ๐ช
2. We talked for about 30 mins. I explained that the protests were happening all over the country, and that they could find out where by googling it. It was actually a good discussion no raised voices. I even got some help from a Brit who had just gotten his citizenship as he backed me up on what we discussed. No shouting, just talking. They thanked us and left.
3. I had seen a young black man standing by himself about 10 ft away, and I walked up to him asking how he was doing? He had just transferred into A&M, from San Antonio, a Nuclear Engineering major. So, smart kid, hopefully. Hope he does okay. I gave him my contact info letting him know he could reach out, if he needs to cuz I've been here a long damn time. He said 2 Petroleum Engineering classes were killing him. Told him my dad taught that long ago. Take care.
@VeroniqueB99 Also note that many Irish who didn't feel represented by any of the candidates went to the polls anyway and spoiled ballots. The spoiled ballots scored about half the votes of the second place candidate.
Democracy is alive and well here in Ireland whatever you hear on your media
Pity the President of Ireland is little more than a figurehead. If she were Taoiseach (Prime Minister) it might mean something.
