Granted, #YouTube's constant #Enshittification makes it useless beyond being a #Hoster for Video Files...

  • Yes, I am #StillMad re: #AdPocalypse and I'll not even consider forgiving #Google, #Alphabet or whatever they call themselves until they paid my my #AdSense revenue, reinstated #monetization of my channels & back-owed revenue + interest, but I sincerely doubt that they'd ever do that *as a matter of principle.

The enforced #US-Style #prudishness of #AntisocialMedia is really alienating cuz it's just bad and only results in #SelfCensorship-based #NewSpeak to circumvent that shit which helps noone but #Advertisers who want content to bow before them instead of actually choosing where to advertise what and to whom!

How YouTube Coerced Its Way Into Rewriting Our Language

YouTube
@kkarhan I never liked the idea of Youtubers change/create their content to satisfy the Algorithm more than the viewers.

@GreenRoc nodds in agreement

What pissed me of and still pisses me off is that even obeying every bullshit rule doesn't guarantee not being a victim of #CollectivePunishment as a #SmallChannel just getting started.

  • It's not about the €5-ish that they took from me by refusing to pay me out, (I didn't expect to ROI the cost of said videos anyway!) but the principle!

I followed every rule and every best practise they said to the letter and then they randomly decided to demoneitze all the #SmallChannels because they couldn't be assed to vet theor platform so #Daesh propaganda channels didn't get #ads on their videos and #advertisers complained at them for that.

  • Cuz that's what #AdPocalypse essentially was: Kicking all the small channels into their groin for something they didn't do wrong.

Just because they'd get away eith that as de-facto #monopoly!

@kkarhan I remember when they demonetized small channels, a friend lost their income over that.

I would think the smalest channels are the ones that need the most revenue.

Selfish developers.

@GreenRoc also this is where #YouTube's #Enshittification really kicked in because they refused to acknowledge the diversity was what made YouTube big, instead wanting to #enshittifiy itself into #US-style #CableTV bullshit!

  • So instead they pissed off all the big creators to go with #Nebula and #Floatplane and whatever else there is, and now are stuck with #AiSlop-"Machineguns", #cringe content that is more traumatizing than "child-friendly" and everyone who doesn't have the money to buy fake plays and fake subscribers to get bif sponsorship deals.
Susan Wojcicki is Ruining YouTube

YouTube
@kkarhan @GreenRoc YouTube was ruined a LONG time ago. I joined in 2007. For a few years it was possible to build vibrant communities there of people who knew each other well and vlogged and responded to each other. They destroyed that, I don't exactly remember, between 5 and 8 years after that. It then turned into a commercial hell hole and I stopped bothering.

@GreenRoc@mastodon.social I think it's really stupid for YouTube not wanting a million channels making $5 per month but rather 5 channels making $1M. Because channels making Millions won't wait 12 months to get paid, but a $60 payout threshhold is acceptable with the small channels. - Plus the power dynamics are less favourable even if the 1M channels were to *"unionize"* or all together class-action in a dispute case (which literally would never happen because #ClassAction isn't a thing outside the #USA and no #ClassActions ever covered non-#US - residents or customers overseas!)… It's as dellusional as the #XboxOne [E3 2013 presentation!](https://infosec.space/@kkarhan/115440644827450949)

@kkarhan @GreenRoc 2016 wow I thought it was earlier than that but my memory is a bit hazy at this stage
@rozeboosje I remeber at leastby 2005 I was there uploading Sea World footage and being part of cetacean lover communities. I fell off when I got attacked by public defamation, and physically lost my ability to go to Sea World in 2009. Youtube was nice back then.
@kkarhan

@rozeboosje @kkarhan Somewhere I read about Sea World copyrights and I can upload and share the footage as long as I dont capitalize on the content. I refused to let ads show on the videos.

I privatized all my videos when the lawsuit of hosting content for kids came along. I was afraid of being sued because I didnt know kids well enough to know what could be inappropriate.

@GreenRoc @rozeboosje personally, I think #YouTubeKids is just - bad.

  • With cringy low effort shite.

The only creator that isn't pushing braindead garbage pondering about joining YouTubeKids was #Arlo...

Arlo

Hey there, I'm Arlo! This is a channel about video games where I make videos about videos games. END OF DESCRIPTION.

Why does #JensenHuang doing *"#AI, AI, AI!"* feel like [Don Mattrick](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYCYHKOChA4&t=313s) doing *"#TV, TV, TV"*? #Microsoft [being outsould 2:1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYCYHKOChA4&t=1218s) in the #8thGen was way too gracious, and even the [5:1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYCYHKOChA4&t=1240s) at the #9thGen is way too lenient. In #Japan the #PS5 outsells the #SeriesS & #SeriesX [together 10:1!](https://playercounter.com/playstation-5-vs-xbox-series-x-sales-numbers/) - In my eyes, the #XboxSeries like #XboxOne needs to be beaten by #Valve['s](https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/05/steam-deck-sales-still-going-strong-over-three-years-later/) #SteamDeck & #NeoGeoMini[*](https://snk.fandom.com/wiki/Neo_Geo_Mini) because they actually have #Games worth buying the fucking console for! Besides the [rocky launch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ6eM5OZtm0&t=527s) #9thGeneration [due to](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ6eM5OZtm0) #Scalpers, where even professional commentators like [Stephanie Sterling struggled](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ6eM5OZtm0&t=560s) to get said hardware, or even [seen it at all *in the wild*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ6eM5OZtm0&t=570s). - There's basically [no games *worth buying a console for*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ6eM5OZtm0&t=784s) coming out for [either console](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJxaIP8F3K8) to the point that the #Switch2 at least has more reasons *bespite outrageous pricing for €80 for games.
