@gdinwiddie There is a church I pass on my way to and from the airfield. For a little while, its sign spoke to us all:
“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.”
@gdinwiddie I cherish that Joseph Heller quote about having enough.
I wish I felt secure enough to endorse it for myself.
@gdinwiddie
I've "HAD" enough for quite some time.
And I'm sure I'm not alone. #Enough
Mugsy, what you’ve had enough of is somewhat different than what George (or Joseph Heller, for that matter) had in mind. <grin> I like to think I share Heller’s sensibilities.
As for what you’ve had enough of — Yeah. I’m with you there.
Could not be more clear than this indeed…
same.
@gdinwiddie billionaires are hoarders! They are not happy being rich, they must have more!
A mental illness
NOT hoarders, hoarding is a very different pathology and most hoarders are not bad people, they simply have a pathological emotional relation to "stuff", "stuff" hardly ever includes money.
Billionaires are obsessed with power and winning. They also seem to lose the power of empathy.
Some people have that hole they could never fill. Permanently broken in a dangerous way.
Most of us would go down the MaKenzie Scott route.
Milo Minderbinder would not be happy with his creator 😏
When your goal is denial to others, then you can never deny enough.
@gdinwiddie From the Dao De Jing, Chapter 46:
…知足之足,常足矣
Something like “They who know that enough is enough, always have enough.”
I've been wondering questioning just that lately. As trump continues to cash in on this presidency for personal gain, I wonder how long a fat assed dementia fart blower like him will live? I mean, come on.....
@saliaku I don't know. I got the clip from someone else. A search turns up a number of books.
"I too relish small government.
Just large enough to cherish and protect the innocent, the poor, and the suffering."
SearingTruth
This can have an impact, if all the obsessive money-hoarders would read and understand this.
There's another layer of awful.
Those for whom having nearly everything is less important than other people having nearly nothing.
