Just watched "The Astronaut (2025)".

5/10 ⭐

First of all, it's not great. But it certainly has its moments. I'd read some reviews beforehand, so I knew there was a twist at the end, and there was enough foreshadowing that I mostly guessed it ahead of time. It was mostly just silly.

Since the ending was somewhat expected, I wasn't hugely disappointed. My main issue with the film was that I found the motivation of the main character hard to accept throughout.

Of course, in a film with a horror/thriller theme, there's always gonna be the "why are you walking towards the danger!" element to it. It's almost a required trope.

But the main character made a number of choices, that kept her at the centre as the plot evolved of course, but where her motivation didn't really make much sense. The character's actions must make at least some level of sense, and when they don't, it really undermines the story.

Still, it was entertaining enough to watch.

@veronica

It sounds like the sequel to Life.

I don't think it is, but that one ends with the one astronaut being rescued from the capsule and as a viewer you know things are going to go poorly from there!
