I will never buy any appliance which requires an internet connection, but this device brings us one step closer to hell. You can *never* turn off the ads? I'd be tempted to whack it with a crowbar.
"(Samsung) says the move will “strengthen” its home appliances “every day value” for customers."
This is only true where customers = advertisers.
One day soon some clever manufacturer will invent a range of dumb fridges, kettles, toasters, light switches and all those other things we use daily, and which should *never* require the internet to work
For most of my life I was an early adopter with helpful tech. Little did I imagine that I'd hit my 70s with no smart devices, no cellphone, no apps (not one) and no subs to streaming services. I no longer play those games.
Yet oddly, my life feels more fulfilled these days. I believe the absence of tech demanding my attention has helped me to better appreciate simplicity and the value of solitude. I have no intention of changing this serendipitous situation.
