I have managed to load my late father's Zeiss Ikonta 524/16 uncoupled rangefinder with a roll of Kentmere 100. Probably daft given the weather. I think this camera probably needs a CLA, but I've no idea who's left in the UK can do it. This is maybe a metal-work job; the catch for opening and closing the back is bent and very stiff!

@carusb The Zeiss lens is superb. Tack sharp. Just be wary of flare. I look forward to seeing your photos.

@tapasinthesun This the 3.5 (Novar Anstigmat?), not the Tessar. All photos taken. Definitely not my favourite camera! I think I only made on blank frame. At least one frame was focused at 4 metres rather than infinity. Hoping I've avoided flare, but one frame was definitely marginal. (I often find father's shadow in his photos!)

The trouble is, it's tricky and very different to use, so it annoys me, so I don't want to use it, except once a year for #FolderWeek, when it is tricky and...

@carusb I have not had personal experience of all the Ikonta lenses, but I have heard that they are all good.

I am not the greatest fan of my Super Ikonta. It has quirks and is not the easiest to use. BUT, it is capable of producing some great photos! I try to embrace its strengths and put up with its weaknesses.

@tapasinthesun I just did a search of some of my past #Ikonta images, and you're right. This may be the poor relation, but when I take due care, it's pretty nice.

@carusb That can compete with any modern camera and lens.
