Walking the crimson path towards Charo's grave
Walking the crimson path towards Charo's grave
Four views of the same tree, clad in a variety of hues
I realised recently that my photo album releases had ground to a halt, and that was because the next location was Caelid.
Caelid, of the buzzing flies and fetid swamps.
Caelid, where 90% of my photos were overwhelmingly dominated by visual noise.
So this week I took a break from editing DLC photos to plunge back into those swamps and find the beauty within.
The rot growing in that golden treelight
Drawing the attention of the dragonbarrow's denizens
Four moods of Caelid
The swamp of Aeonia, in its many shades
Winding up the path from the sorcerous town of Sellia, to a broken church repurposed by the god of rot
At Caelid's end, a festival of warriors, a gathering of the mighty to defeat a once-great demigod
As the Erdtree burns, we navigate the forgotten halls of Faram Azula
All things crumble, in their own time
This is a place suffused with endings, perpetual collapse caught in a static moment
Light through crumbling ruins
Rising above the crumbling city, and facing a dragonlord long forgotten
Death no longer defied, the Hold cannot stand
Across the Lands Between, the inferno leaves naught untouched by ash and embers
Far beneath the Capital, a long-hidden fire burns, granting fresh conviction to all who bask in its light
A triumphal return to the Erdtree, its boughs aflame
Through thorns and fire, to fight a demigod
All things must end; in the absence of endings, some cycles must be forced to a close
To kneel before our chosen Goddess, and usher in the Age of Stars
In a parallel world - where the Age of Stars has yet to be embraced - we walk the long path to a palace of blood
Taking our first steps into the Land of Shadow, where Kind Miquella walks the path before us, always one divine step ahead
Roaming the Gravesite Plain, a vast memorial to the fallen of this wartorn land
The city of Belurat, long shrouded in veils
Reaching Belurat's peak, amidst towers and fallen monument
Through Castle Ensis, towards the shadowed plateau
Upon high Scadu Altus, we raise our eyes to the heavens, where ancient towers, mighty fortresses and endless veils persist
Beneath the Scadutree, the Shadow Keep stands watch
We walk cerulean shores; we delve into ruins and memorials long-forgotten
To descend to the root of the world, where Saint Trina sleeps eternal
Through the cursed Bonny Village, to Manus Metyr Cathedral and the horrors that sleep beneath
The floodwaters recede, revealing the remnants of the Church District's once-fine architecture
Battlefields and altars amidst the Scadutree's roots
A hidden village offers a moment of sanctuary behind the warmth of ancient wards
Sun-blessed finger-ruins and shaded shrines guarded by sleeping golems
In woods veined with feverish yellow, heretics and abominations still hold sway
Despite the fires of inquisition and the wrack of time, the embers of the flame of frenzy linger in this woodland manse
Braving the treacherous foothills of the Jagged Peak, beloved of dragon cultists
A winding path through the blood-red blossoms of Charo's grave
Jagged peaks, grand arches, and icy gaols beneath the earth
A hidden valley wends through the shadow of an ancient city of spirals
A paradise of long-lost ruins, overgrown and full of dangers
Divine trees, and cities that spiral to the heavens
The rot at the heart of paradise
At last to the steps of Enir-Ilim, where Kind Miquella reigns
The spiralling architecture of the highest city
Through antechambers and shrines, ever upwards
To the heights of Enir-Ilim, where we prepare to go to war with a demigod
A battlefield of ash and bone, before we stand - blessèd, god-touched, weeping - before Miquella's high throne
That's the end of Gille's journey.
