So it begins... again

#MiniaturePainting #basing

Primed and first paint layers (lava wet in wet)

#miniaturePainting #Basing

Pretty sure this won't look as good when dried

Well... good enough I'd say.
And I found one of my UV LEDs 😎🎇

Even cooler in the dark

Gloss varnish, then thiiiicc Mordant Earth.

Fun fact: what you see on those rocks is not a mistake but my first attempt at #OSL. Ever.

#MiniaturePainting #Basing

Not quite what I had imagined (I probably should have stuck with the tried-and-tested PVA instead of switching to gloss varnish), but good enough to continue with.
#MiniaturePainting #lava #basing
90% done - drybrushed and rims painted.
I will yet touch up the OSL some.

These will be the corresponding minis: #OnePageRules #AlienHives

I haven't decided on a color scheme yet and am open to suggestions.
At the moment, I'm leaning towards a combination of light beige-brown (chest) and dark gray-brown (back/spines), but I'm not quite sure yet.
I will try to then add a simple OSL orange from below by airbrush.

@gorobar Some fleshy tones combined with something rather unnatural can be very cool, too - I think.^^ Something like a red-ish yellow as base and the shadows and down sides tinted with violet/blue. ^^
@alexisonminis I've had similar thoughts, but also a little different - the planned orange OSL from below is the warm tone already. And to really show that, the mini needs to be relatively dark and in colder or at least neutral tones. A selection of dark-ish greys, maybe, with accents in the blue range
@gorobar yess! that sounds nice, too! :D
@gorobar Hui, die sehen sehr cool aus. 😲
@Sumire danke 🙂
@gorobar Die schauen wirklich stark aus!
@fastjack25 🙂 ich bin auch zufrieden
@gorobar I guess with PVA you get bigger cracks?
@erikcats looks like it. Although I am ok with the cracks - it's the "islands" between the cracks that I would have wanted a little bigger
@gorobar
Cooler Effekt! Bases sollte man echt nicht vernachlässigen.

@Hauntedhouse ja, sieht schon besser aus, als ich gedacht hätte 😀
klassischer Fall von "trust the process" 😬
