1/2 Why are there plates and dishes in Scotland Yard’s Crime Museum? These plates were found on 13 August 1963 at Leatherslade Farm, a hideout for the gang behind The Great Train Robbery. Despite attempts to clean fingerprints, prints were found in the kitchen and on a Monopoly game, which were later used to tie the perpetrators to the crime. #truecrime #CrimeHistory #crime
2/2 Police file and photo of Ronnie Biggs. Biggs was arrested and convicted for his role in the robbery, but escaped from Wandsworth Prison and went on the run for 36 years. Though Biggs enjoyed a great deal of publicity, it was his failure to move the train (with a former train driver) that led to train driver Jack Mills being violently forced to do it. Mills never recovered from his injuries. #crime #realcrime
