Today’s #FleaMarketFinds !

Earlier this year I decided to try to dig up a set of X-Files DVDs. It’s turned out to be harder than I expected (I could have *so many* sets of 24 by now though) and I’ve only found season 3 (a solid enough season!) but today I found the first season of the spin-off Millennium — which is NOT on streaming or available for digital purchase! Very cool, and extra cool for $5. Now I have to find the other two seasons…

The Cobra Mole Rat — a DARK ENERGON ZOMBIE!!! — flew completely under my radar until the recent announcement of an even more zombified version, and just as I realized I needed it, I found a booth where someone was offloading a sealed Classified collection. I’m usually looking for cheaper thrills but $29 and no eBay shipping is still a win in my book!

I also got some thrifted shirts for work from some charity shops that are actually supporting good causes — a local hospice and an SPCA. A good day out!

I love so much that Dark Energon not only broke containment and ended up in other Transformers stories, but it even infected other adjacent lines!

Also there really needs to be a new term for businesses that are technically antique malls (unmanned indoor booths, extended business hours) but have flea market vibes (piles of relatively recent media like DVDs and video games, stuff that was clearly just bought on steep clearance and marked back up, Lafufus, etc.).

Most of these call themselves flea markets but I think of that as strictly your weekend-only, manned-table, possibly-entirely-outside things.

@trixter lovable junk emporia?
@trixter Maybe like... a consignment shop or mall or market?

@trixter those are called 'vendor malls' where I am.
Indoor, flea market vibes, unmanned booths of 'stuff' (usually themed but sometimes the stuff is 'whatever the booth owner is looking to unload'), open every day of the week (not just weekends).

The biggest difference between a flea market and a vendor mall is you could usually find less-than-legal stuff at flea markets when I was growing up (mainly weed paraphernalia, which I guess isn't illegal if you just say it's for tobacco use? Idk) while everything sold at a vendor mall is legal

@trixter Awesome. I recall loving Millennium when it aired but haven’t seen any of it since then.
@jdowns It was on at a time when I didn’t get much control over what was on the TV, so I didn’t get to see more than maybe a couple episodes. I’m looking forward to it!
