MAGA are the kind of people who see nothing wrong with Republican leaders praising Hitler, joking about rape, and killing people in gas chambers, but get triggered by a holiday coffee cup, a restaurant's new logo, or a library book they'll never read.

Their priorities and values are on full display. Why this doesn't disgust more Americans is beyond me.

@augieray
Dont even get them started on 'Juneteenth'.
They dont even know what it is other than 'a black people thing' so thats enough to hate it.
@augieray most people ignore it - actively - as long as they are not directly affected.
@prefec2 @augieray I think the - it only matters if it affects me - crowd are just as evil as the ones who seekout ways to harm others
@augieray
That's the tip of the iceberg of "Why this doesn't disgust more Americans..."
@augieray It's partly because Americans never dealt with their racist, colonial and imperialist roots as a nation. It's also partly because they have a hyper-individualistic capitalistic mindset that essentially says: mind your own business, leave policy to professional politicians and only fight back if you are affected personally. I think this covers why aren't more Americans disgusted by this, though I might be missing something.
@JakeKb @augieray โ€ฆand then thereโ€™s that christian stupidity that piously murmurs โ€˜god will handle this. I donโ€™t have to worry about it.โ€™ Or worse, โ€˜Yes, trump is an Abomination, but his foul deeds will help bring on the โ€˜rapture.โ€™
@tend2wobble @augieray Thank you, I forgot the religious aspect.
@tend2wobble @JakeKb @augieray Don't Blame Christ For trump, that is pretty ignorant and hateful, I don't know where you get these sayings from but it is not a good place and it's hateful.
@eiri1234 No one is blaming Jesus for tRump.
@tend2wobble Then don't generalize "Christians", I do not murmur those things.
@JakeKb @augieray This isn't wrong, but it is a generalization.
@starlily @augieray I can't do better with 500 characters, but I think it is a good summation. I am simply saying that maga comes from ideas of American exceptionalism and US's founding myths and it doesn't surprise me that during a capitalist crisis many Americans turned to maga. If you keep exonerating or justifying your past instead of meaningfully dealing with it, you will end up with these people in power.
@augieray There are some in these comments that seem to think all Americans are MAGA.
Wildly bigoted and inaccurate. MAGA is a minority.
@augieray
๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
@augieray
Even as a Finn I'm disgusted
@augieray yes and God forbid I acknowledge my trans kids exist or talk about the first of any minority group to do anything in psychology or.

@augieray People have gotten comfy and look for safety. "Just be nice" they say, hoping they'll be passed when the next culling happens.

It's going exactly as it has before.

@augieray Never forget that the USA is a fundamentally pro-killing country. Founded on genocide and wars of territorial expansion, built on murderous slavery, fuelled by mass slaughter overseas, it prides itself on having no less than three separate modes of blowing up the entire planet. Murica even prides itself on giving every citizen the right to own a personal killing device.

It's weird how some Americans seem surprised that the pro-killing country elects killers.

@augieray In MAGA world it is all performative except the corruption
