Every sign has a story behind it, and I suspect this one in Bowling, just to the west of Glasgow, might be more interesting than most.

@thisismyglasgow I saw similar signs in Austria which warned lorry drivers to use specific roads because of unsuitable GPS guidance.
@DC4DD
Where is the fun in that?
@WoyWoyUnderpass Lorries stuck between two houses for example? Narrow streets.

An A82 (Loch Lomond) alternative gets blocked often by trucks & coaches ignoring no HGV signs if there’s been an accident on main road.

@thisismyglasgow ohhhh, I wondered what on earth was going on, it's a one-street town, but looking at streetview it's clear - to the left of that lamppost is a short layby in front of the flats, the gps must be suggesting a u-turn through that to get to the A82 going back the way (which, in fairness, is closer). The lay-by is narrow with parked cars, it's not going to work for any vans/lorries at all.

At least it wasn't directing them onto the cycle path!

@thisismyglasgow There's a similiar sign next to where I live, and the story behind that is that twice, semi-trucks had to be rescued out of a narrow, steep and sharp S-curve further up the road from that sign... because some satnavs might tell you (correctly) that's the shortest route to the other town.
@thisismyglasgow I always think it’s odd to be on the same road in Glasgow and in Inverness.
